Position overview

SmartHop is investing to build SmartPay, a Fintech offering to our customers to improve their operation and create a whole payments ecosystem for them. SmartPay will be a full payment solution for our customers so they can get paid for their loads faster than ever and have access to multiple additional benefits. We are looking for a Fintech Business Strategy and Operations Director reporting directly to the General Manager. As Director of Fintech, you will help build our inhouse product from the ground up by developing a robust understanding of the Fintech ecosystem and engaging with internal and external stakeholders to ensure program success. Location: NYC preferred; plus options in Miami or Remote.


  • Develop and help manage  Smartpay and payments go-to-market strategies
  • Scope resource needs including staffing,  and build the operational framework to operate Smartpay. 
  • Research industry trends and understand client needs to develop enhanced solutions
  • Develop the KPIs for measuring success of Smartpay
  • Build a framework for analyzing opportunities in the payments ecosystem
  • Coordinate activities between sales, customer success, product, technology, operations and marketing to coordinate and implement relevant solutions
  • Provide strategic thought leadership on how to evaluate and continually improve SmartPay
  • Drive a “customer centric” focus on our goals, strategy, evaluation of success, process design, and everyday habits.


  • BA/BS required
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in companies that provide financial services through software, including factoring, mobile payment apps and managing funds.  
  • MBA preferred
  • Previous experience in investment banking or consulting preferred 
  • Analytical skills with the ability to summarize and find insights from data
  • Great communication and presentation skills, ability to develop and tell a story
  • Able to work independently, and with broad instructions
  • Adaptable to a variety of different work and projects
